Hello Midland Texas!
Once Spring Training ended at the end of March, we were Texas bound! We called West Texas home for about 3 and a half months this Spring/Summer. You know the song we saw miles and miles of Texas, boy did we. We saw a ton of windshield time as being in the Texas league it allowed us to drive to most of the away series every week.
This year our living situation was different than previous years, we lived out of a hotel every day. Since we were changing locations every week, we were packing and unpacking all the time, eating out every meal, and always stuck in small spaces. But one positive in it all was we never had to do much cleaning!
My favorite locations in the Texas league would probably have to be Corpus Christi or Frisco. These places were not new for Trey and I, but they had the most things to do and we were able to see friends and family when we visited. I loved going to Corpus because the hotel was right across from Landry’s Seafood Restaurant and their “Bang Bang Shrimp” was fantastic! I ate it this year 3 times and we were only there 6 days ha!
Another positive was being able to go to the beach on the off day. It was a nice little getaway getting to relax on the beach and be in the water. Both of our families came and visited this year while we were in Corpus, which made that week even more special. Parker even got to watch her Uncle Trey pitch for the first time!
For the Fourth of July this year we were in Frisco which was a perfect place to celebrate the American Holiday. Huge crowds showed up and we were able to watch the fireworks with sweet friends. Treys best friend Logan and his family live in the Frisco area, and we were fortunate to spend so much time with them while we were there.
After we left Frisco, it was All-star break which was 4 days off from baseball! We decided to take some friends to our place in Utopia which is in the Texas Hill Country. It was a nice break from hotel life and the perfect escape and refresh for the rest of the season.
Once back in Midland for the start of the second half of the baseball season, Trey got the call we were hoping to receive. He was getting moved up to LAS VEGAS!! The Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s. I was so proud of Trey for getting the promotion, but also just as excited to leave Midland and explore new places. That same day we packed up all of our belongings, then I dropped him off at the airport to fly to Las Vegas. I ended up flying out a few days later and met him in Salt Lake City.
Our time in Midland was great! We made new friends, saw places in Texas that we never expected to go, and made memories we will never forget <3
