BASEBALL is BACK!! Our offseason flew by so fast. Crazy to think that is it already time for baseball season to begin again. We loved our time at home over the holidays and tremendously enjoyed our time with family and friends, but we were ready to be back in Arizona for Spring Training.
We started out our 16-hour drive on Saturday morning February 11, and made it to our Airbnb in Scottsdale just in time for the Super Bowl the following afternoon. If any of you have driven I-10 through West Texas, you know how unexciting this drive is. About 10 hours of absolutely nothing! Luckily, or should I say unfortunately lol we have made this drive quite a few times, so we know exactly what to expect.
First day of Big-League Camp started on Valentines Day this year and boy were we happy that Trey was going in healthy for the first time since 2020! A normal Spring Training was something we were not going to take for granted ever again.
Trey had so much fun at camp this year before games started. He learned a lot, built friendships. and most importantly stayed healthy! Games started at the end of February, and I tried to go to as many as I could. The weather this spring was absolutely crazy! It was cold, rainy, and cloudy basically every day until the second week of March. Not your typical Arizona weather that’s for sure. I was regretting that I had not packed more sweaters and jackets those first few weeks for the cold games I sat through.
Trey pitched in 3 games during his time in Big League Camp, and even made the trip to Las Vegas for Big League Weekend. He pitched better every outing and was so glad to be facing competition again. It was such a great feeling watching him do his thing again on the mound!
Our short trip to Las Vegas could not have come at a better time. It felt like a little weekend vacation away from Spring Training. They put the team up in the Mirage for two nights and gave the boys freedom both nights to do whatever they wanted. We went to our first comedy show with a few friends on Saturday night at the Wynn by Sebastian Maniscalco and all thoroughly enjoyed it. He was quite funny. I am so glad that I made the drive to Las Vegas because I made friends with some of the wives and girlfriends on the team! We all had fun and loved the free trip!
Once back in Phoenix the last 3 weeks of Spring Training flew by! One major advantage of Spring Training is so many of our baseball friends are here. So we took full advantage of having our friends all in the same city (which hardly ever happens) and saw them as much as we could!
Just a few days ago Trey found out where we would be starting the season and that is in TEXAS! We are heading to Midland, Texas and Trey will be on the Rockhounds. We are so excited to get the season started and are praying for a healthy and successful season! Here’s to late nights at the ballpark, way too many hotdogs for dinner, road trips, and meeting new friends!
2023 baseball season we are ready for you!
