The Vine- New Ulm, Texas
Wedding Decision #1- Picking the perfect venue.
In deciding where we wanted to get married Trey and I wanted to make sure it was close enough to both of our hometowns so that all of our family and friends could partake in the celebration. I am from Bellville and Trey is from La Grange which means our hometowns are about 45 minutes from each other. Not far at all.
I wanted to have a venue picked before we left for Arizona so given that Trey asked me 5 days before we left, we did not have much time. I made that decision because I wanted to be able to see the venue in person and not just through pictures or videos.
Since Treys offseason is only a few months, October-January, we did not have many venue options available if we wanted to get married within a year and not have to have such a long engagement. 2021 made it even more difficult finding a venue within those months because so many brides pushed back their weddings because of COVID. After calling around to different venues there were only a few options that had dates available on a Saturday and were not crazy expensive.
The first venue that my mom and I toured was The Vine. The Vine is a wedding venue in a small town called New Ulm, which just so happens to be between our hometowns. Never in a million years would you think that the small town would have a venue that was as beautiful as The Vine. Being that it was the middle of winter I did not think that the landscaping would look bright and colorful, but boy did The Vines landscape shock me. It was January and there was so much green! They had plants and trees that did not “look dead” in the middle of winter. The reception area is a large brown rustic wooden building with 2 beautiful large rock fireplaces. The high ceiling and large glass windows and doors make the space so open and inviting.
The reception area holds up to 500 people which was plenty of space for the amount we were wanting to ask. Trey always imagined having a huge, small-town wedding so talking him into asking around 350 was a win for me and for our checkbooks.
They also have an area set aside for happy hour and games for kids/adults. This outside area can double as a ceremony space, as it looks out towards the pond and the winery on the property.
Trey and I both envisioned our wedding ceremony in a church/chapel. We wanted to make sure our venue had the option of having our ceremony on the premises, so we did not have to worry about transportation from church to venue. The two different locations sometimes make the day longer and cause some guests to only partake in one event not both. The Vine luckily had both! A reception space and a chapel.
The chapel at The Vine looks just like a small church. It has a large wooden cross hanging on the wall as you walk in and seating for 300 guests in wooden pews. When I saw this chapel, I immediately pictured us getting married there. The best part was the reception area was less than 100 yards from the chapel!
Another fun perk about The Vine is that they have two separate suites to get ready in. The bridal suite is closest to the chapel and has everything you need to get ready with your girls. It has a large full kitchen and spacious lounge area. It also has a large area with floor length mirrors and beauty salon styling chairs to sit in while getting hair and makeup done. The groom’s suite is similarly styled with a large kitchen and lounge area. Instead of the beauty area they have a pool table. A perfect addition to groom’s suite.
They only had one date left available in 2021 and it was a Saturday in December. If we wanted that date, we had to make our decision fast or we would lose the opportunity to get married here.
After much talk on the way home with my mom I made the decision that nothing in the area would be this pretty or have the perks that this venue did. The reception area is large, they have a large chapel, it is in between our hometowns, and it is available when we needed it to be. How could I not choose this venue!
Later that afternoon I called The Vine and booked December 4, 2021. We had found our perfect venue!!
