Hopping Through Easter with Sarah & Trey

Easter Weekend in Phoenix: Building Newlywed Traditions

We hope your Easter weekend brought you joy, delicious food, and time with the people you cherish. Trey and I started our morning with bunny-shaped cinnamon rolls — a fun, easy way to ease into the holiday before church.

On the walk back to our apartment afterward, we noticed huge blooming bougainvillea all over ASU's campus. Each spring these vivid plants brighten the Phoenix area, adding stunning pops of pink against the brown desert landscape. We stopped for a few photos, took in the view, and then continued on.

An Afternoon Spent Poolside

Back home, we passed a few hours relaxing by the pool with our books, soaking up the warm Easter sun. The rest of the day was reserved for making our Easter dinner — and, naturally, Sunday baseball.

Our Traditional Easter Dinner Menu

To bring a taste of home to Phoenix, we kept to our families' classic Easter menu. The meal featured ham, broccoli and rice, green bean casserole, and a dessert. I chose to bake Easter-themed cupcakes. It was our first time making a few of these sides, but all in all I think we pulled it off.

Celebrating Our First Easter as Husband and Wife

Marking our first Easter as husband and wife felt truly special. We began creating our own traditions while holding on to some family favorites. Where we'll celebrate next year is still undecided — but we've come to learn that our traditions can come along with us wherever the road takes us.
