Viva Las Vegas: The Second Half of the 2023 Baseball Season
When Trey learned he was being sent to Las Vegas, we felt shocked, overjoyed, and a little nervous all at once. We couldn't wait to get there and see our wonderful friends again. This post is filed under Life Lately.
Road Trips and Travel
Salt Lake City, Utah, was our first stop during a busy three months of travel. It proved to be a great first taste of Triple-A road trips, letting us explore a new city and meet a few new people. If you're ever downtown in Salt Lake City, I highly recommend eating at Eggsburgh — it was so good we went three times in a single week.
Since we were in a new city or state almost every week, many long Sundays and Mondays were spent waiting around airports. I went along on most road series, because we'd have been paying for a hotel whether I stayed in Vegas or traveled with the team. One perk of Triple-A was that the wives could take the team bus to the airport and fly on the players' plane, which saved us the cost of Ubers and helped a lot.
Once back in Las Vegas, the team put us up at the Red Rock Casino for three nights. Those days felt like a getaway, since the hotel was great and the pool was so relaxing. Because the truck was being shipped from Midland, it was perfect that the Red Rock was right across from the stadium, so we could both walk over to games. For the rest of our time in Las Vegas, we stayed at the Suncoast Casino Hotel. I told Trey I never pictured living in a hotel for a year — and in a casino, of all places.
Las Vegas Ballpark and Hotel Life
The Las Vegas Ballpark is one of the best minor league parks I've been to, and I've seen plenty. Players' families were treated like royalty, with passes giving food and drink discounts plus a suite every night. Those suites were a lifesaver once temperatures went above 100 degrees. If you're in Vegas during baseball season, I really suggest going out to Summerlin for a game. Then cross the street to the shopping center, get a treat at Frankies Uptown, and take a walk — they're delicious and come in lots of flavors.
Some of the cities we stopped in were Albuquerque, where we saw Vanessa Hudgens at a game, Reno, where we were freezing at a few August games, and Round Rock. Round Rock was bittersweet, because we saw so many friends and family that week that it felt like home. We hated leaving and saying our goodbyes.
Triple-A Life and Friendships
This was one of my favorite seasons, thanks to so many wonderful women who made going to games such fun. We were always celebrating each other and ate out once a week, which brought us closer. We even threw a last-minute baby shower for one of the girls. I'll miss them all so much and hope our paths cross again in the baseball world.
Trey had so much to be grateful for this season: his first fully healthy year since 2019, ending the season in Triple-A, his success on the field, and all the memories and friendships made. The 2023 season is one we'll never forget.
Looking Ahead to 2024
Fingers crossed the 2024 baseball season treats us just as well. Bring on the free agency offseason!

My Facebook Page ContactFrom the first road series to the final home stand, the second half of the 2023 season was a whirlwind of new cities, long travel days, and a Las Vegas summer. Between games at the Las Vegas Ballpark, weekly dinners with the other wives, and quick trips to places like Salt Lake City and Round Rock, the months flew by. It was a season defined as much by the people around us as by what happened on the field.
